Physical inactivity is one of the leading risk factors for health (WHO). Almost 40% of the population is not active enough to meet health recommendations. Inactivity has raised up from 31% in 2001 to 37% in 2016.

The healthy-living, self-help, self-care, fitness, nutrition, diet, and spiritual practices have become a flourishing wellness movement in the 21st century. According to data and trends provided in the most recent GWI Global Wellness Economy Monitor:  

  • The global wellness economy was a $4.2 trillion market in 2017.
  • The industry grew by 6.4 percent annually from 2015–2017, from a $3.7 trillion to a $4.2 trillion market, nearly twice as fast as global economic growth (3.6 percent annually, based on IMF data).
  • Wellness expenditures ($4.2 trillion) are more than half of the total global health expenditures ($7.3 trillion, based on WHO data).
  • The wellness industry represents 5.3 percent of the global economic output.
  • Among the 10 wellness markets analyzed, the revenue growth leaders from 2015–2017 (per annum) were the spa industry (9.8 percent), wellness tourism (6.5 percent) and wellness real estate (6.4 percent).

We have developed an AI-powered app to enhance customer experience in the wellness booking.

This is done via continuous learning from the customers and their behavior. Those insights are further used to provide improvements for better end-user experience.

Allowing Business providers to focus on customers through the entire wellness experience and helping them along the way.

It is an AI-driven platform able to match more demanding consumer needs with wellness and fitness treatment vendors.

It enables go-to-market via multiple channels to attract businesses, create the marketplace and serve the need while offering a hassle-free platform.

It enables connectivity of any wellness device to collect data of any wellness manufacturer thus creating the big-data wellness platform.


The Wellness Platform and Who Is It For

The Wellness Platform is used to assign classes or training sessions, create and sell membership, onboard new members, track employee hours, pull reports, keep track of members, track and process payments, and send emails.

End-users:

1. Trainers often use the platform to find out their upcoming schedules, see how many members are signed up for their services, and track members’ progress.

Integrating IoT devices into traditional training removes the need for trainers to manually track workouts, also helps to monitor user progress and provides advice to help them.

2. People that workout use this platform to book classes or services online (either through a dedicated app or on the company website), to make payments, and to access their personalized fitness information.

It also gives real-time feedback and keeps track of every rep and every set of exercises that users put into the routine.

For the deployment of our platform, we joined forces with AWS, since it was a natural choice. As an AWS advanced consulting partner, we rely on the most comprehensive network of available resources and worldwide data centers.

Guryou is a complex platform, consisting of several sub-systems:

Rest API:

  1.  Route53 DNS Record
  2.  EC2 instance for hosting
  3.  RDS (MySql) as main Datastore

WaaS (Admin Section) where business users create and manage profiles, employees, bookings, create video courses:

  1.  S3 for static website hosting of ReactJS app
  2.  Cloudfront CDN
  3.  Route53

Guryou.com (Customer Portal) where end-users see the wellness professionals, book services, buy and view video courses:

  1.  EC2 for NextJS server-side rendering
  2.  S3 for static files
  3.  Route53

Video Streaming Serverless Solution:

  1.  S3 for uploading videos and storing transcoded video files
  2.  Lambda to listen for new uploads on S3 and trigger transcoding job
  3.  Elastic Transcoder to transcode the videos
  4.  SNS topic where transcoding progress is published
  5.  Lambda listener to the SNS topic, and notify API about competition

Payment service:

  1.  EC2
  2.  Elastic Beanstalk for deployment
